Poncho was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Army. His specialized training led him to serve a tour of duty in Korea and was later honorably discharged as SGT in 1966. Upon his return to civilian life, he went on to work at multiple jobs before embarking on a 38-year long career with the United States Postal Service. Along the way he became a husband, a father, a grandfather, a provider, and most importantly a well-rounded person. Many times, he was a man of few words but never short on compassion for everybody and everything.
Poncho was always ready and willing to assist others no matter what the task was. From actively participating with the Riverside High School Band Boosters to the Home Depot Community Service projects (Kaboom) and helping with endless projects at his daughters’ homes as well as his beloved St. Paul’s the Apostle Catholic Church where he assisted with the grounds until his health did not allow him to continue.
We would like to extend a heartfelt special thanks to the staff at Urgent Hospice Care, Mary and David at Edgerock Foster Home where they assisted us with providing Poncho with the round-the-clock care that he needed in his final days with us.
