Fred was preceded in death by his mother, Carmen Aguilera Gonzalez. He is survived by his father, Luis Navarro Gonzalez, his loving wife, Irma N. Gonzalez, his adored daughters, Jacqueline Isabel Gonzalez and Cristina Lucero Gonzalez, and his faithful dog and companion, Biscocho. He is also survived by his brothers and their wives, Luis Gerardo Gonzalez and Luz Maria “Nena” Gonzalez, Hector Alfonso Gonzalez and Martha Garza Gonzalez, and his sister, Maria C. “Pamela” Gonzalez, Ph.D. He is survived by his father and mother-in-law, Francisco Natividad and Carmen H. Natividad, and their children and spouses, Francisco Natividad Jr., Leticia Campos and Juan Francisco Campos, Carmen Natividad, Javier Natividad and Mary Natividad. Fred had an army of adoring nieces and nephews: Valerie Ara Gonzalez; Luis Gerardo Gonzalez Jr and Loni Picard Gonzalez, children, Luis Gerardo Gonzalez III, Levi Graham, and Landon Gotham; Jessica Palmerin and Miguel Palmerin and children, Jade Belen and Julian Gustavo; Joseph Gonzalez and Lorena Gonzalez and children Erick, Christian, and Caleb; Jennifer Robles and Matthew Robles; Gabrielle Campos and Adam Carreon and children, Olivia Beatriz and Luca Emmanuel; Isaac Natividad; Natalie Campos; Noah Natividad; Zachary Campos; Carlos Natividad; and all thought Fred was the coolest uncle. He is survived by aunts and an enormous number of cousins and their children who always enjoyed the comedy routines he deployed at all family gatherings. He is also survived by colleagues, who appreciated his exceptional work ethic, and friends, who shared his gregariousness toward life.
He served the least among us and especially worked to give hope to unaccompanied undocumented minors. Because he was an organ donor, in death, he will continue to serve and help heal many in the world.
His interests included music and, in his youth, was a member of a heavy metal band, Mortal Sin, where he was the lead screamer.
He was a passionate fan and vocal supporter of the Green Bay Packers, which meant his salutations always ended with “Go Packers!” in as loud a voice as possible.
But his greatest passion was for his family. He adored his wife, Irma, and treasured Jackie and Cristina, and entertained every member of his family with good cheer and some of the worst jokes ever heard. A man full of love. While he never gained wealth or fame, he did, however, make this world much better and made all lives richer in his community.
He was an active member of San Antonio de Padua Parish. His pallbearers are Zachary Campos, Hector Gonzalez, Joseph Gonzalez, Luis G. Gonzalez, Luis G. Gonzalez Jr., and Maria C. “Pamela” Gonzalez, PhD.
Visitation is Wednesday, August 21, from 5 to 7 pm with the Rosary at 7 pm at Hillcrest Funeral Home, 1060 N. Carolina Dr. The mass will be on Thursday, August 22, at 10 am at San Antonio de Padua Catholic Church, 503 Hunter Dr. off N. Loop.
