With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of Antonio Brun Abad, 84, who left us on March 21st, 2023. Antonio (Tony) was born on April 29th, 1938, in Anso, Huesca, Spain. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jose Brun and Carmen Abad, and his brothers, Jose (Pepito) and Luis Brun. He was the second child of six siblings, and his sisters Mari Carmen and Maribel and brother Juan Jose currently live in the province of Huesca in Spain.
On October 2nd, 1970, Tony touched ground in the United States of America as he was commissioned as a sheepherder for the State of California. He later migrated to El Paso, Texas, to join his brother Luis, and he worked as a carpenter for over 40 years. He was very hard-working and loved to cook. His life in El Paso differed greatly from the lush forest of his hometown and the Spanish culture. He adopted El Paso as his new home a quickly learned to love the Mexican culture, its music, and his friends. In his younger years, he loved to sing at parties, especially Jotas, the traditional songs from his hometown Anso. Although he was not very tall, we could hear him from far away with his strong Spanish-accented voice. He was a wonderful uncle to his nieces and nephews, Carmen, Dianna, Luis, and Juan. He had a special connection with their children, whom he loved and spoiled as if they were his grandchildren. Tony was also a passionate sports fan, with soccer as his favorite sport. He would spend countless hours watching the Barcelona Soccer team and all the other games on TV. He often got into heated discussions about the latest soccer games, his favorite players, sporting events, and American football with friends and family.
Tio Tony will always be remembered for his boisterous and humble spirit, love for sports, and helping others. All who knew him, especially his nieces and nephews, whose lives he so deeply touched, will cherish his memory. He became a pillar in everyone's hearts, as he was constant and never changing, "Tony was always Tony" unapologetically himself. Rest in peace, Tio Antonio Brun. You will be deeply missed, but your legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved you. Until we reunite in heaven. Tio Tony, you are a season ticket holder and have a front-row ticket to the best game in town! We love you and will miss you!
