Cecilia L. Hernandez, born in El Paso, Texas on January 26, 1948, was called upon by our Heavenly Father on December 15, 2021, surrounded by her family. Although her unexpected departure was way too soon, she was prepared leaving behind a map with instructions for her family to follow. Even in the final days she was in control of her life! She was always ready for what life threw at her and was prepared and organized with everything in order.
Her infectious smile and joy for life was felt by many who crossed her path. If you knew Ceci, you knew she was the life of every party. She loved to sing, dance, tell jokes, play cards, and most importantly she was an avid Bingo fan who found great joy in winning as many jackpots as she could! She loved the Dallas Cowboys, win or lose! She was fierce, strong and a very loyal wife, mother, sister and friend. She would light up a room with her energy and charisma. There were no strangers in Cecilia’s life, she made friends quickly with anyone she interacted with. Her family was her world, she loved them unconditionally. She enjoyed her beautiful friendships she nurtured over several decades and was proud to be a 1966 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School-Once a Fox, Always a Fox! She was a graduate from El Paso Community College, earning an Associate’s degree in accounting. She called herself a Domestic Goddess, although she wore many hats and took care of many children over the years, caregiver was what she was known for above all. She was there for anyone who needed a hand, especially to her husband whom she nursed back to health. She was proud of her children, bragging and highlighting each one every opportunity she had. She was loved by so many and will be missed, our hearts definitely feel the void.
She is preceded in death by her parents Encarnacion and Adolfo Lagunas. She leaves behind her husband of 50 years- Ricardo J. Hernandez; her children Richard Hernandez & Felicia Gonzalez; Cynthia Ontiveros & Jeremy Ontiveros and Malinda Perez; her grandchildren J.J. Diaz, Ivan Hernandez, Jerry Perez, Keryia Gonzalez, Adelynn Ontiveros, Trinity Ontiveros, and Evan Hernandez; her brothers and sisters Tila & Chuy Rivas, Lulu & Robert Torres(†); Fofoy Lagunas; Bibi Lagunas; Chuyito & Lily Lagunas; Frankie Lagunas; Chalina Bennett and surviving Tios- Tia Nena & Tio Benny Luna; including several cousins, nephews, nieces, and close family friends.
Rest in peace sweet Mother, Angel of God. We love you and will carry on your legacy!
