Cecilia was a soft spoken force of nature. Everything she did in life was with tenacity, fidelity, and grace. While raising four daughters, she attended college and began her career in the medical field, later retiring as a supervisor at William Beaumont Army Medical Center. Above all, Cecilia found great pride and joy in being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was loved dearly and will be greatly missed, but there is peace in knowing she has been reunited in heaven with her husband of 52 years.
Cecilia is survived by her daughters Christy Garibay (Victor), Cindy Mendez , Kathy Hernandez, and Regina Nonalaya; her grandchildren Andrew (Ciara), Brianna, Michael, Danny (Erin), Renae, Desiree, and Mia. Her siblings Magdalena Mendez (Javier) and Pablo Mendez (Armida).
Cecilia also leaves 7 great-grandchildren to cherish her memory.
Cecilia was preceded in death by her husband Arturo Mendez; her mother Herlinda Armendariz; her siblings Juan Armendariz and Emma Camacho.
A visitation for Cecilia will be held Thursday, June 27, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Crestview Funeral Home, 1462 North Zaragoza Rd., El Paso, Texas 79936. A vigil will occur at 6:00 PM at Crestview Funeral Home. A funeral mass will occur Friday, June 28, 2024 at 9:30 AM at St Stephen Catholic Church, 1700 George Dieter Dr, El Paso, Texas 79936. A graveside service will occur Friday, June 28, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Ave, El Paso, Texas 79906.
Serving as pallbearers are Victor Garibay, Andrew Mendez, Michael Espinoza, Danny Monroe, Rudy Camacho Jr and Pablo Mendez.
