

Dr. Clinton C. Johnson, DDS, Colonel USAFR (ret), 87, passed away December 7, 2014. He was born August 15, 1927 in Hector. Minnesota. Dr. Johnson retired after serving for 32 years in the US Air Force Reserve as a dentist, board certified oral pathologist and consultant to the US Air Force Surgeon General. He had a distinguished career in the Veterans Administration serving as a pathologist with the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology, Washington, DC, and Chief of VA Dental Services in Buffalo, NY, Lubbock, and Dallas, TX. He was an elected member of Sigma X, the Scientific Research Society of North American, a Fellow of the American College Of Dentistry, and the American Academy of Oral Pathology. Throughout his career, he authored and published many papers in professional journals. He lectured at medical schools and facilities in Germany, Howard University in Washington DC., State University of New York in Buffalo and Baylor in Dallas. Dr. Johnson honorably served on the Fairmont Association Board of Directors for the past 17 years; seven years as President, seven years as Secretary-Treasurer, and three years as an honorary director. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Julia Irene; daughters Deborah Johnson (William), Constance Wilson (Donald), Cynthia Vechan (Christian); sons Lt Col (Ret) Kent Johnson (Marsha) and Dr. Mark Johnson; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Dr. Johnson was an extraordinarily humble man of honor and a patriot who truly lived a life of “service before self.” Our lives are diminished by his passing and he will be deeply missed.
