Concepcion (Chon) Velez, 92, was called home to eternal rest into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior. He was born December 8, 1929 in Los Angeles, California to Epigmenio and Aurelia Velez. He joined the US Army in July, 1952 serving in the Korean war in Company A, 17th Infantry. During eight years of faithfully serving our country, he relocated to El Paso, Texas where he met and married the love of his life, Romelia Bermudez and shared over 66 years of life together. They settled in El Paso, Texas where he worked at Farah Manufacturing. He attended a bible institute and became a Pastor and ministered in Northeast El Paso until he retired.
He is preceded in death by his son Rogelio (Roy) Velez, his parents and siblings. He is survived by his wife Romelia Velez, their sons and their wives, Javier & Sandra Velez, Raul & Carmin Velez, Gabriela Velez (+Roy) and Daniel & Michelle Velez, 12 grandchildren, Romelia Lopez, Lorraine Baez, Jason Velez, Priscilla (James) Munoz, Raul (Christina) Velez, Jr., Jazmin (Gabriel) Vasquez, John (Autumne) Wright, Christina (Omar) Gutierrez, Tannis Velez, Jacob Velez, Patricia (Aaron Ceja) Velez, Joshua Velez; numerous great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2022 at Del Angel Restlawn Funeral Home, 8817 Dyer Street in El Paso, Texas followed by internment at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery. The Memorial Service will be officiated by Reverend Ray Gonzales from Iglesia Cristiana Pentecostes. The Memorial service scheduled is as follows: Visitation is from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon Memorial Service 12:15 pm to 2:00 pm Graveside Service with Full Military Honors: 2:30 pm at Fort Bliss National Cemetery Serving as Pall Bearers are his grandsons: Raul Velez, Jr. and Jason Velez, great-grandsons: Zion Lopez, Anthony Munoz, Elijah Munoz and Aiden Munoz.
