Daisy Louise Hilley

Daisy “Louise” Hilley, 96, of Socorro, Texas, passed away peacefully at home June 10, 2024. She was born September 19, 1927 to James and Daisy Carr in Fabens, Texas. Louise grew up in Clint, Texas and graduated from Clint High School. She attended New Mexico State University and graduated with an undergraduate degree in Home Economics. Louise married the love of her life, Harvey Hilley, of Socorro, Texas, and they were married for 57 years. Louise was a supportive wife and partner to her husband who farmed cotton for over 61 years, and she continued farming cotton with her son for an additional 16 years after Harvey’s passing. Louise was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Her passions outside of family and farming included being an active member of the Ysleta United Methodist Church (currently Vista Ysleta United Methodist Church), helping others, playing bridge and cooking. She taught Sunday School for many years and served on several committees in the Vista Ysleta United Methodist Church, 4-H and Ysleta Woman’s Clubs.

Louise is preceded in death by her husband: Harvey Hilley; son: Kenneth Hilley; sister: Mary Carr and brothers: Joe Carr, Aubrey Carr, and James Carr, Jr. She is survived by children: Harvey Hilley, Jr. of Ft. Hancock, Texas, and Peggy Restivo of Litchfield Park, Arizona; 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Monday, June 17, at Martin Funeral Home East, 1460 George Dieter Drive. Funeral services will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 18, at Vista Ysleta United Methodist Church, 11860 Rojas Drive. Graveside service to follow at 10:30 a.m. at Restlawn Memorial Park, 4848 Alps Drive.

In lieu of flowers, friends and family are asked to make donations in memory of Daisy Louise Hilley to the Alzheimer’s Association.
