Eleanor Varela, 87, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, November 9, 2021. She was born in Fabens, Texas December 23, 1933.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Robert Varela, her parents Carlos and Elena Cobos, brother Armando Cobos, and sister Alice Perez.
Eleanor is survived by her four daughters who reside in Texas, Linda Tarpley of El Paso, Cindy Pitts of Pearland, Judy Parsons of Kyle, and Roberta Varela-Hein of Universal City. She is survived by eight grandchildren: Jeremy Tarpley and wife Amanda; Steven Tarpley and wife Ashley; Brian Tarpley and wife Erin; Rob Parsons and wife Taylor; Renee Windlinger and husband Tyler; Randy Parsons, Andrew Pitts and Sarah Pitts. She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren: Avery, Hayden, and Emma Tarpley; Garrett and Logan Tarpley; Elliette and Amelia Tarpley; Zella and Wheeler Parsons; and Jackson and Ava Windlinger. She is also survived by brothers, Carlos Cobos Jr. and Nick Cobos, sister Lillian Sambrano, and numerous nephews and nieces.
Eleanor loved being a mother to four daughters, living the farm life along with her husband Robert and being a lifelong homemaker. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior when she was 13 years old. She was a devout student of the Bible, and served in various church roles throughout her younger years. She also generously supported her church and various Christian ministries.
Visitation will be held on Friday at 10:00am, followed by a Celebration of her Life at 11:00am at Del Angel Funeral Home, 8817 Dyer Street, El Paso, Texas. Graveside service will follow across the street at Restlawn Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be her four son-in-laws and six grandsons mentioned above.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be given to the Rescue Mission of El Paso, Texas, 204 North Lee Street, 79901, a ministry our mother, Eleanor supported.
