Elmer was a student at Roosevelt Elementary School in my fourth-grade class of 1999-2000.  I knew from the very beginning that he was going to be an exceptional student.  He was full of enthusiasm and very eager to learn and excel.  He seemed to know instantly the answers to questions and was a very quick learner.  His winning personality and his exuberance showed through his very being.
I can tell from the pictures that were shown at his visitation that he had matured into a very fine young man - molded by his family,  loved by his friends, and with a zeal for education as evidenced by his college degrees and activities - soccer, fraternities, social events, etc .  - a very well-rounded adult. 
May God grant strength and comfort to the Arrieta Family at this sorrowful time and forever.

Como no recordar a Elmer ese niño tan serio con su pelito chino llegando a mi casa por que estaba buscando a Patty su hermanita el casi no salia pues era muy estudioso recuerdo que alguna ves su mami dijo esque el estudia mucho el siempre supo que iva a hacer con su vida asi lo recoradare siempre como el nino estudioso con lentes de pelo chinito

Yo conocí a Elmer no hace mucho tiempo, como hace un año ya, y desde que lo conocí siempre súper contentos cuando nos veíamos, siempre con una sonrisa en su cara, lo conocí por medio de una amiga en lubbock, por la escuela, y por que el estaba en arquitectura como yo, empezamos a platicar y salió que éramos de El Paso los dos, y que nos gustaba bailar, yo realmente nunca había bailado bien bien hasta que conocí a Elmer, que se convirtió en mi pareja de baile en salsa night en lubbock, una vez estuvimos bailando casi toda la noche y desde entonces se hizo un muy buen amigo , lo veía en la escuela y hablábamos por mensaje, teníamos planeado ir a tomarnos un trago juntos cuando los dos volviéramos de donde andábamos, en verdad me entristece que esto haya pasado, y siempre lo recordare, al escuchar la música que bailábamos, a el diseñar arquitectura, siempre lo llevare cerca, mi más sentido pésame a toda su familia, y a sus amigos más cercanos, hubiera querido a verme convertido en uno de ellos, pero con el poco tiempo que lo conocí yo lo consideraba un muy buen amigo, y una persona increíble ! Con mucho futuro por delante. En verdad mi más sentido pésame, un abrazo, y Elmer estará siempre en mis oraciones. 

Elmer and my son Drew shared a birthday. I remember several times them celebrating together. Elmer was a cute, happy kid and I remember him always with a smile on his face. He and Drew were good friends. He will be missed by all his friends and my heart aches for his family. RIP Dear Elmer

Tomaste el vuelo mas alto, y te alcansaremos.. El dolor no se ira pero aprenderemos a vivir con el. Te amamos.. 
Mira que asta el dia de hoy as echo cosas que nadien podia. Y aqui tienes a toda tu familia reunida por ti.

Elmer was able to make people feel seen, he made people feel that they were worth more than their situation. He always included me, made sure I knew he was there for me. He cared about everyone. I am blessed to have been a part of his life.
