

Mrs. Elvira Aguilar Reyes, 87, a longtime resident of El Paso, Texas, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family on January 22, 2026. She was born on February 5, 1938 in Juarez, Mexico, to Juan and Rosa Aguilar.
Elvira was preceded in death by her sisters, Albertina (Berta) Chavez, Simona Aguilar and Maria Elena (Elena) Ortiz, and her brothers Rafael Aguilar, Jesus Aguilar and Santiago Aguilar. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Agustin Reyes. They were married in El Paso, Texas on May 9, 1966. She is survived by her nine children: son Augustine Reyes and his wife Deborah, daughter Dora Lujan and her husband Israel, son Carlos Reyes, daughter Guadalupe Ramirez and her husband Robert, daughter Rosa Reyes and her partner Brittanie, daughter Elizabeth Jones and her husband Fletcher, son Jesse Reyes, daughter Nelly Gutierrez and her partner Angel, and daughter Jennifer Badley and her husband Fernando. She is further survived by her brother Juan Aguilar.
Elvira will also be warmly remembered by her 26 loving grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews from the familia Chavez, Aguilar, and Ortiz. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Sandra and Mike Castillo, for their unwavering support and care.
Pallbearers are Augustine Reyes, Carlos Reyes, Jesse Reyes, Izzy Lujan, Robert Ramirez, Fletcher Jones, Fernando Badley, Mike Castillo, Alen Ortiz, Ricky Guiterrez, Joseph Guiterrez, Martin Badley, Anthony Badley, Donovan Jones, Carlitos Reyes and Chris Reyes.
Elvira lived with an open heart and an open door. She was always considerate of others and taught her children and grandchildren the value of respect and family. Her home was a place of warmth and welcome, where family, friends, and even strangers were received with genuine kindness and care. She had a rare gift for making people feel seen and valued, whether they were lifelong loved ones or someone she had just met at the “mercado”.
Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were never far from her thoughts. She took great joy in shopping for the perfect gifts, always choosing something that reflected how deeply she knew and loved her family. Elvira expressed her love through cooking, filling her home with the comfort of shared meals, laughter, and togetherness. She also loved hosting parties, often complete with piñatas and DJ’s, grabbing anyone near to share in her love of dancing, celebrating life with style and joy, bringing laughter, beauty and warmth wherever she went.
Funeral arrangements will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Hillcrest West, located at 5054 Doniphan Dr., El Paso, TX 79932.
Public viewing will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with the Rosary from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at 12:00 p.m., at St. Jude Catholic Church, 4006 Hidden Way, El Paso, Texas 79922.
Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Memorial Pines Cemetery, 3061 Memorial Pines Rd., Sunland Park, New Mexico 88063.
A repast will be held immediately following the burial at the Reyes’ home, 261 Pyrite Dr., El Paso, Texas 79932.
