EMMA J. ASHLEY (101) passed away on 27 January 2019. Emma was the eldest of five children born to Raymundo and Clara (Salgado) Jimenez in San Elizario, TX. on 28 January 1918. Emma lived a long and eventful life surrounded by her dear family. She was the matriarch of a family that spanned six generations. Her love of family was boundless; there was nothing she wouldn’t do for her loved ones. In her golden years, she was known to sit in a sandbox to play with her grandchildren. Emma was a stunning beauty with abundant energy and a zest for travel and enjoyment. She loved life and laughter. She often traveled to the East Coast to spend time on the Chesapeake Bay with her youngest daughter and family. Emma was also a skilled gardener, talented ceramicist, and an amazing cook. Her albondigas will be missed.
Emma was predeceased by the love of her life, George N. Ashley Sr., founder of Ashley’s Mexican Foods. Also preceding her were her parents and her four siblings: Fernando Jimenez, David Jimenez, Josephine Villaverde, and Margaret Tomassic. Emma is survived by her five daughters: Gloria Bohnaker (Joe), Emma Muniz (Alfredo), Alice Greco (Richard), Grace Schleppey (Steve), and Clara Ochipinti (David). She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, forty-seven great-grandchildren, thirty-three great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great-grandchild.

Services will be held on Thursday, 31 January and are entrusted to Funeraria del Angel Restlawn 8817 Dyer, El Paso, TX. A private, family viewing will be held 9:30 – 10:00 am; general visitation will take place at 10:00 – 11:00 am, and a rosary recitation and funeral services will be held at 11:00 am.
