We are so saddened to accept that our precious Mom, Grandma, Sister, and Tia Evangelina Macias (Vangie) passed away peacefully on March 4th surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Vangie was born to Seferino and Francisca Rodrighez on February 1, 1934. While our hearts are left with a painful void, our faith teaches us that she is reunited with the love of her life, Frank, and together they are in the presence of God Our Father. She is also now reunited in heaven with her parents and siblings, Chole, Lucy, Emma, Pavi and Ruben.
Vangie was an active member of San Lorenzo Catholic Church and was always there to lend a helping hand to friends or community members in times of need. She was an avid volunteer for the Clint School District and served on the Clint ISD School Board. Vangie loved her Clint community as much as they loved her.
Vangie spent her days creating a home and family filled with love. She was beautifully devoted to her children, Irma Zepeda (Joe), Frank David (Mary), Irene Ortega (Hector) Eddie (Diane) and Cathy Swope (Mick). Her presence warmed our home and her table was a wonderful and secure place for our family and friends to create loving memories as we relished in her incredible cooking.
She was a loving grandmother to Lisa, Adrian, David Jr., Josh, Ruben, Michael, Richie, Cassie, Jessie, Emily and Matthew. She was truly present and instrumental in the care, nurturing, and upbringing of all her grandchildren. They were her pride and joy. And she was the “bestest” great-grandmother to Landon, Isabelle, Adriana, David lll, Madison, Xavier, Dominic, Micah, Ian, Ethan, Barrett, and Jaxon. She was Tia Vanje to her numerous nieces and nephews and a sister to Franks siblings, Margie, Bennie, Mary, Esequiel Jr. and Tere. She also had a very special bond with her surviving sister Locha and brother-in-law Ernest Vigil.
God truly blessed our mom and our family. We are profoundly thankful to the family and friends whose acts of kindness throughout the past year have given her such joy and given us so much support. “Thank you” does not begin to express our appreciation for Monica, Veronica, Maria and Nena for their tender care. A loving thank you also to Nora for her spiritual support and guidance.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Visitation will be held Monday, March 14, from 5:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at San Lorenzo Catholic Church in Clint, Texas. Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, March 15, at 10:00 a.m. at San Lorenzo Church. Burial will follow at Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery.
