

Evelyn G. Bernard passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 17, 2012. She was 79 years young. Evelyn was a 39 year resident of El Paso, Texas. She was born and raised on a 50-acre farm in Falls County Texas, near Waco. She was Valedictorian of her senior class after which she attended Texas Christian University and completed a Bachelor’s Degree in nursing. Among other places, she worked at hospitals in College Station, Lubbock and Houston, Texas. She came to El Paso with her family in 1973 and worked in her chosen profession until her retirement in 1992.
Evelyn loved the arts in all forms, particularly painting, music and dance. She was an artist herself, painting many pictures that are cherished by friends and family. She was also a lover of Jazz, attending festivals across the country. She loved to travel and saw many places in the United States, Mexico and Canada; she visited many countries in Europe, plus Australia, New Zealand, The Holy Land and Egypt. She loved flowers, animals and children.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husbands Donald J. Arnold and Frederick G. Bernard and her brothers, Willie F. Krueger and Lorence F. Krueger.
She is survived by daughter Rebecca Arnold of El Paso, son Mark Arnold of Lubbock, Sister Gladys Walls of Slaton, stepchildren Cindi Bernard of Marietta, Georgia, Fred Bernard III, Jeff Bernard and David Bernard of Austin and many grandchildren.
Evelyn’s life will be celebrated on Saturday November 24, 2012 with a visitation from 9:30 am till 11:00 a.m. and a Funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at St. Marks United Methodist Church, 5005 Love Rd., El Paso Texas. Interment will follow at Evergreen East Cemetery at 12400 Montana Avenue. Rev. Felicia Hopkins to officiate. A reception for friends and family will be held at Evelyn’s home beginning at 5:00 pm.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie and David Warshaw, Zane McVey, Mike Krueger, Bryan Bernard, Gilbert Garcia, Garry Blackmon and Richard Marslender. Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Krueger, Earl Wurzbach and Raymond Snare.
