Glenda M. Hughes passed away on November 29, 2025, at age 91. Born in Overton, TX, she was the oldest of two children of Henry C. and Myrtle Maass. She retired as a school teacher after working 21 years in the Ysleta Independent School District.
She was a graduate of Kilgore High School in Kilgore, TX. She was a proud member of the renowned Kilgore College Rangerettes while attending junior college and subsequently graduated from North Texas State College with a Bachelor of Science in Education. She was a member of Alpha Phi Women’s Fraternity. While in college, she met the love of her life and future husband, Don, an Army officer stationed at Carswell Air Force Base in Ft. Worth. At the time of his death, they had been married for 65 years.
She is survived by her sons Don (Becky) and Bob (Shannon), and grandsons Travis, Tyler (Caitlin) and Gregory, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother Henry E. Maass. A private service was held at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
