Gregoria M. Renteria, affectionately known as “goyita” to friends and “yaya” to family, passed away January 1, 2015 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She was a career skilled textile worker who dedicated her life to care for family. As a child she aided her mother in caring for her siblings and as an adult, she lovingly cared for her husband and five children. She was an attentive listener who always gave great advice and she loved dancing to rock-n-roll music with her husband. Her Mexican culinary skills were second to none. She was the undisputed matriarch of our family with a heart of gold. Her final wish was to have her eldest granddaughter create the following poem in remembrance of her. “In our memories you will stay, your smile will never fade away. Your warm and caring heart, we will carry with us every day. It is still hard to believe you are gone, But I know you are not suffering anymore, because you are finally home. We will never forget you until the day we die, Someday we will meet up in the sky. We love you our beautiful mother, grandmother, Sister and daughter, and always will. Till we meet again our loving Angel.” She was preceded in death by her husband Oscar Renteria; her son David; her father Enrique Magallanez; and her brothers, Julian and Pablo Magallanez. She is survived by her mother Cresencia Luna, sons: Oscar (Martha), Gustavo (Wendy) and Ricardo (Dina); daughter Laura (Albert) Carrasco; brothers: Manuel Arvizu and Enrique and Jesus Magallanez; sisters Ana Unpingco and Sandra Castaneda; and 8 grandchildren and 1 greatgrandchild.
