Irene Romero

Martha Irene Romero, known as Irene, peacefully passed away on January 6, 2024, surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was 75. Born on April 17, 1948, in El Paso, Texas, Irene lived a life marked by her unwavering faith and deep love for her family. She was a graduate of Austin High School and worked for EPISD for 35 years.

Believing in the promise of resurrection, we know she was welcomed into heaven by her parents, Edmundo and Elvira Romero, as well as her sisters, Edna Rodriguez and Mary Romero.

She is lovingly survived and deeply missed by a family who cherished her.

She leaves behind her sister Dolores Alvarado, brother-in-law Raul, nephews Nathaniel and Zachary. Her nieces Linda Godinez (Jody), Sandra Contreras and Lisa Pena (Andrew), as well as 6 great nieces and nephews and 10 great, great nieces and nephews.

The memory of Irene’s love and commitment to family will be with us always. While we are deeply saddened by her passing, we take solace knowing she is at peace and healed by our Heavenly Father.

May her soul, and the souls of all the faithfully departed, through God’s mercy, rest in peace.

A visitation for Irene will be held Monday, February 19, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hillcrest Funeral Home, 1060 North Carolina Drive, El Paso, TX 79915. A rosary will occur Monday, February 19, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, 1060 North Carolina Drive, El Paso, TX 79915. A funeral mass will occur Tuesday, February 20, 2024 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 1050 N Clark Dr, El Paso, TX 79905. A graveside service will occur Tuesday, February 20, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Restlawn Memorial Cemetery, 8700 Dyer St, El Paso, TX 79904.
