Iris Bernice Simmons, born on April 2, 1963, was called home to be with Jesus on January 28, 2026. Though her final years were marked with illness, Iris faced her journey with courage and she now rests in perfect peace, free from pain and earthly burdens. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Richard Simmons; mother, Yolanda Marestein Lopez; brother, Mark Lopez; and grandparents, Joseph and Consuelo Marestein, and Felipe and Isabel Lopez. Iris leaves behind a loving family to cherish her memory, including her father, Alex “Tasi”Lopez; brothers, Jerry (Cindy), Rick (Amanda), and Tim; nieces and nephews, Ariel Nicole, Tim II, Matt, Amaya, and Diego and great nephew Bradley; and her Godmother/aunt, Iris Marestein Marquez, along with many loving relatives. While her absence will be deeply felt, we take comfort in knowing that Iris has been healed and made whole in God’s presence, and she has been reunited with those who went before her, and welcomed into eternal rest and everlasting peace.
