

Irma, “Worm/Oma,” Rivera, 57, of El Paso, TX, surrounded by her family, surrendered peacefully from complications due to breast cancer on Sunday, May 10, 2015 in Abilene, Texas. Irma was a dedicated employee to the Department of Homeland Security-USCIS where she served proudly for 36 years. Outside of work, she loved family gatherings and making delicious desserts for any occasion. You couldn’t miss her unmistakable screams of joy, infectious laugh, and her one of a kind whistle while cheering you on. Irma was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt who devoted her life to family & friends.
She was an inspiration to all. Irma is survived by her husband, of 39 years, Henry Rivera; her sons Jason and Marc Rivera, her daughter and son-in-law Melanie & Brad Rasa; four grandchildren Katy McClellan, Brandon and Cameron Rivera and Everly Rasa; her three Godchildren Monee Marquez, Mireya Montenegro and Briana Rios; her parents Daniel and Maria Concepcion (Lechuga) Rios; two brothers Rene (Denise) Rios and Ronald (Monica) Rios; four sisters Connie (Sergio) Montenegro, Angie (Arturo) Marquez, Cecilia (Danny †) Santillan and Susan (Humberto) Samalot. She also truly loved being an aunt to her many nieces and nephews.Visitation held from 6-9pm on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at Hillcrest Funeral Home 1060 Carolina with Vigil at 7pm. Funeral Mass held at 2pm on Friday, May 15, 2015 at St. Raphael Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
