Irma Margarita Soto (Mima), beloved daughter, sister, cousin, aunt and friend died peacefully on Thursday April 6, 2023. She was born November 6, 1944 in El Paso, at the old Hotel Dieu Hospital. Mima graduated from UTEP and soon after enrolled at the Franciscan University in Steubenville, Ohio, where she obtained a Master's in Theology. For many years she worked for pediatricians Drs. Nickey and Huchton. Later she was a Director of Religious Education at Fort Bliss. She was very caring and always put her family first. She loved to travel. She was very athletic and participated competitively in tennis, jogging, and bicycling. She also loved horseback riding, skiing and golf.
Mima was preceded in death by her father, Roberto Soto, and mother, Irma Alcalá Soto. She is survived by siblings José Raúl, Roberto, Ivonne, and Irene and her husband Ricardo, and numerous family and friends.
Visitation service including a recitation of the rosary will be held on Wednesday April 19, 2023 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Martin Funeral West on Resler. A mass of the resurrection will be the following day, Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at San Francisco de Assis parish on Doniphan. Cremation will follow at a later date with interment at San Lorenzo Parish in Juárez.
