Ismael Gonzalez is survived by his beloved daughters: Gloria, Veronica, and Samantha; sons Alexander, Gabriel, Reuben, Daniel and many beautiful grandchildren. He was a proud father and grandfather, deeply devoted to his family.
Ismael was a United States Army veteran who honorably served in the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), proudly known as the “Screaming Eagles.” He completed over 100 jumps from C-130 aircrafts—an achievement he recounted with pride, often exclaiming his favorite phrase: “Airborne!”
A lifelong advocate for justice, equality, and cultural pride, Ismael dedicated his early years to advancing the Chicano movement. He was a respected leader in the Segundo Barrio of El Paso, Texas, and took part in historic marches in California led by Cesar Chavez.
Through his unwavering commitment to civil rights, his leadership, and his powerful voice, Ismael inspired countless individuals and played a vital role in shaping the progress we see today. His legacy resonates not only in El Paso, but across the broader Chicano movement.
Please keep Ismael’s family, friends, and all those touched by his remarkable life in your thoughts during this difficult time.
