Jan Lea Johnson, age 65, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2024. She was born on June 13, 1959, to Margaret Ann and K. Allen Johnson in Fort Collins, Colorado. Her mother, Margaret Ann Johnson, preceded her in death.
Jan was passionate about life and freely shared her loving spirit with her family and friends. She was born and raised in El Paso and graduated from Burges High School and the University of Colorado.
Jan was a former teacher in Austin, Texas, but spent most of her career teaching at various El Paso schools. Jan proudly earned the Teacher of the Year title and was a top 10 District finalist in 1994. She retired from Hornedo Middle School on May 31, 2018.
Jan is survived by her father, K. Allen Johnson, and his wife, Glenell, her sister, Diane Johnson, and her husband, Knox, her brother, Michael Andrew Johnson, and his wife, Carol. She is also survived by her cousins John Ray and Sarah Ray Adams, her nieces Katelyn Johnson, Anna Lackner, and Sarah Lauck, and her nephews Matthew Johnson, Hunter Johnson, and Andrew Johnson.
A gathering of remembrance for Jan will be held Saturday, January 11, 2025, beginning at 11 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home, 128 N. Resler, El Paso, Texas. A prayer service will begin at noon, with a reception following the service.
