Jeanne Marie Brooks was born on November 9 1939 in Washington DC. She is predeceased by her parents, John M Cherry and Evelyn Dixon Cherry and her dear brother John M Cherry II and his wife, Carolyn Cherry. She passed away at her home unexpectedly on July 16 2018. Jeanne spent her youth in the DC area until she was swept off her feet at 18, when she met her husband Donald Brooks. It was love at first sight. They married less than six months later on February 15 1958. As a military spouse and many duty stations later, five children, Michael (Carrie), Cathy, Billy, Teri, and Christine, they settled in to their near forever home in Davidsonville, Maryland. Lots of love, laughs, tears, turmoil, and joy were had. Jeanne was a loving and selfless Mom, grandmother (MOM MOM) to seven beautiful grandchildren and eight great grandchildren as well as a dedicated wife. Her family was rocked to its core in June 1989 after a terrible accident involving her son. But her steadfast love and devotion remained absolute, not only to Billy but to her family and most importantly to her husband and her faith in Jesus Christ. They retired to El Paso in September 2000, where she enjoyed swimming at the local pool everyday and working on craft projects galore. Along with her incessant reading, her hands were rarely idle between needlepoint, crocheting baby hats for the local hospital, to sewing doll clothes and making quilts for all of her many grandchildren and others. Years of projects left unfinished due to her sudden and unexpected death. Jeanne Marie, your smile could light up a room and will be truly missed! We will carry on your legacy until we meet again.
