Jeanne was born in Stanton, Tx, to Bill Auburn Lively and Billie Jean (nee Vandever) Lively shortly after her father set up his dental practice in. A couple of years later, the Lively family moved to Midland. She was an art major at Texas Tech when she first met her future husband, Robert. They dated long distance for three years while Robert was attending dental school in Dallas and she completed her degree in Interior design. Jeanne and Robert were married on July 5, 1975 in Midland. They settled in El Paso, TX, where Robert had grown up and subsequently set up his dental practice. Jeanne couldn’t get away from dentists. Her paternal grandfather was a dentist in Dallas, her father was a dentist, Robert was a dentist and her father-in-law was a dentist. As a teen, she was “obligated” to work in her dad’s office during the summer swore never to work in Robert’s office. Well, that promise lasted about 14 years when she agreed to “straighten out” Robert’s office for a few weeks which stretched into 30+ years.
Jeanne did an excellent job raising two kids, Kirsten and Scott, and kept Robert going. Even with the kids, Robert and Jeanne traveled a lot dragging the kids and exposing them to skiing, hiking, camping, hot air ballooning, scuba diving among other adventures. Jeanne and Robert’s travels continued after the kids left to such places as Europe, the far east, South Pacific, Australia, New Zealand, Caribbean, Indonesia among many others. The travels were supposed to continue but Jeanne
developed problems with walking which required extensive back surgery to correct. Post surgery did not go well when multiple complications developed. After several weeks, Jeanne requested hospice. She is now at peace and pain free.
Jeanne is survived by Robert, Kirsten Duncan, Scott Henderson. Brothers Charles (Buck) Lively, Mark Lively and lone sister Jan Pate. She is also survived by three grand children from (Kirsten’s kids): Savanna, Tatum and Genesee. To top all of that, Savanna has two kids: Charlotte and Finagan and Tatum just had a baby Waylon.
Cremation was Jeanne’s choice. No local funeral services at this time. Jeanne’s extended family is literally scattered around the US. We have advised groups of friends and relatives to have their own localized celebrations of life for time being. Family plans celebration of life at Thanksgiving time in Poulsbo, WA.
Donations can be made in her name to St. Jude’s children hospital in Memphis.
