Jo Ruth Wosika

Jo Ruth Roberts Benner Wosika went home to her Lord and Savior on September 20, 2015. Her passions were her family, her beloved church, and many missionaries. She was born on July 16, 1917 in El Paso and attended Crocket Elementary School, Austin High School, College of Mines, and graduated from Baylor University. She was a wonderful first grade teacher at Rusk Elementary School for many years.

Jo Ruth was the daughter of W.C. Roberts and Sallye Tidwell Roberts. She was a life-long member of First Baptist Church, El Paso where she proudly served in many ministries and led her Sunday School class for many years. She was very active in her church and in many organizations.

Jo Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Rice Wosika and her brother Walton Roberts. Her family includes her sister Reida Roberts Stewart, brother John T. Roberts; daughter Jo Ann Benner Elder and husband John; Robert and Melissa Elder, Zane, Ava, Olivia and Elise Elder; Joe and Darlene Elder; daughter Patsy Benner Baltzell and children Steven, Katie and David Baltzell; Ed and Hannelore Wosika and Ilona, Riley and Sebastian McCullough.

The family would like to thank her wonderful care-giver Susan Turner, helper Jonna Tyra, Dr. Branch Craige, the staff of the The Montevista, and Hospice of El Paso.

Graveside service will be held Thursday, September 24th at 10:00 AM at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 8700 N. Dyer. A Memorial Celebration will follow in the Sanctuary of First Baptist Church, 805 Montana at 11:00 AM. Pastors Dr. David Lowrie and Dr. Bob Nickell will officiate.
