family by his side. John was born on June 3, 1940 in Oklahoma to John Carrasco, SR. and Lucy. After he graduated
high school, he served in the Army from June 1, 1958 to April 1, 1981 and retired as a Master Sergeant. He served
two tours in Vietnam and was a proud Veteran.
John was very dedicated to his friends, family and the VFW #3317. He has helped in many Charitable events
and was always there to give a helping hand. He would go out of his way to make everyone feel special
and welcome. He was known as the "Grill Master" as he could make the best brisket around with his own
barbeque sauce that could be famous if we bottled it up. He also made the best green chile bacon
burger in town. He donated quite a bit of things to the VFW including a BBQ smoker. He was a very
generous person. While he was living in Houston, he would never miss a Cook Off to show off his great
cooking and grilling skills. His food will definitely be missed by many.
He was also very skilled at making leather wallets, coozies and numerous items that friends & family have
to cherish.
He was very good at playing pool and taught many members at the VFW all his secrets. He never met
a stranger and always welcomed everyone with open arms.
His grandchildren have great memories of all the summers spent with him rock hunting, camping and
floating the River in New Mexico.
