John was born on February 15, 1943, to Carolina and Juan Martinez in Deming, New Mexico.
John was a long-time resident of El Paso, Texas. During his youth, he played the trombone at his elementary school and played bass guitar with a band outside of school. He was an active member of the Irvin High School’s choir and graduated in 1962. John enjoyed restoring cars and later went to work with his father in a family-owned business “Allstate Plumbing” before he became an Interstate truck driver and retired at the age of sixty-five. John was a gun enthusiast, loved playing golf, was a lifetime member of the Texas State Rifle Association (TSRA), and had interests in photography and painting. John is survived by his loving spouse Mary; children Joyce Renee Wineman, John Paul Martinez; brothers and sister, Daniel Martinez, Armando Martinez, and Angelica Andrea Becerra; grandchildren Michael Christopher, Matthew Clark Wineman, Jacob, Amber, Ethan Martinez, and numerous stepchildren and step grandchildren. John is preceded in death by his parents Carolina and Juan.

John will be greatly missed. He will be remembered for his enthusiasm, love, and extreme patriotism for his country.
Memorial Services will be held at the Funeraria del Angel Restlawn, 8817 Dyer, El Paso, TX, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 p.m., with recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 p.m.
