

John Anthony Perko passed away at age 86, March 11, 2015. John was born March 11, 1929 to John & Mary Perko in Rock Springs WY. He graduated from North Central High School, went on to obtain his Bachelor Degree in Science from Gonzaga University, both in Spokane, WA. He later received his MBA in business from St Mary’s College in Moraga, CA. John served in the US Army Corps of Engineers in the Korean conflict as a First Lieutenant. John then started his lengthy career with Bethlehem Steel where he retired as District Manager of Sales for their West Coast Office while living in Moraga, CA. His career then took him to El Paso with his loving wife, Gay to work for Border Steel, then moved on to Adelphia Metal as a Sales Consultant. He is survived by his wife; Gay his lifelong companion, December 2014 marked their wedding anniversary of 62 years. John and Gay have a loving family that includes a daughter Denise and husband Jeff, son Mike and wife Renee, and son Steve and wife Monika. He is survived by five grandchildren, Lucas, Erika, Samantha, Salome & Sophia and two great grandchildren Ellie & Graham. He is also survived by four brothers, Tom, Paul, Jim, Ken, and their wives. He was a friendly, caring, hardworking man who helped anyone in need. He touched many hearts and always made us laugh and feel welcomed. He never failed to shake a soldier’s hand while thanking them for their service to our country. “John, Dad, Grandpa, & Great Grandpa, we will always love you and you will forever be in our hearts and prayers”-----“When you are born you cry, and the world rejoices. When you die, you rejoice, and the world cries”.
Visitation will be held Monday March 16, 2015 at Martin West Funeral Home Chapel, 128 N. Resler, from 5-9 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m.. Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday March 17, 2015 at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, 400 W. Sunset Rd, at 11:30 a.m. followed by interment at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson, at 1:30 p.m.
