Jose A. Contreras

Jose Avelino Contreras, who was born on May 12, 1942, passed away on December 11, 2025. He was 83 years old and was a resident of Socorro, Texas. Jose was a gentle, humorous, and beloved individual who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Jose is survived by his wife, Maria Christina Contreras; his children: Ernestina Saenz, Jaime Contreras ♰, Peter Contreras, Paul Contreras, and Jose Avelino Contreras Jr. ♰. He is also survived by his daughters-in-law: Leticia Galvan, Christina Paz, and Juliza Perez.

His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Joy Saenz, Ian Contreras, Jimmy J. Contreras, Christopher Munoz, Frankie Dominguez ♰, Valerie Contreras, Peter Contreras Jr., Sarah Contreras, and Desteney Contreras. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Serenity S. Gaskin, Liam J. Soto, Ian A. Contreras, Eve Contreras, Elly Contreras, Laila J. Contreras, Jabin J. Encinas, Gianna J. Velasquez, Issac A. Ornelas, Aubrey N. Ornelas, Evan P. Contreras, Ivan R. Gutierrez, Judah E. Elizondo, Evelyn A. Elizondo; and a great-great-grandchild, Ezekial J. Encinas. Jose was also a godparent to 17 godchildren.

Services to honor Jose's life will be held at Hillcrest Funeral Home, located at 1060 North Carolina Drive, El Paso, TX 79915. A visitation is scheduled for December 23, 2025, from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm, followed by a rosary from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. A funeral mass will take place at Saints Peter & Paul Church, 673 Old Hueco Tanks Rd, El Paso, TX 79927, from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm. The graveside service will be at Mt Carmel Cemetery, 401 S Zaragoza Rd, El Paso, TX 79907, from 2:00 pm to 2:30 pm.

Jose's gentle spirit and humor will be remembered fondly by his family and friends.
