1937-2016
Jose S. Lopez Jr., 78, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2016. He was born in Zacatecas, Mexico on August 28, 1937.
Joe became a lifelong resident of El Paso and joined the US Army where he served in Korea. Upon his return, he became a successful businessman and started his company where he worked side by side with his family daily, and continued to cultivate the business for over 43 years. He obtained several awards through his work ethic, including Minority Supplier of the year, and a commendation from the Governor of Texas. Although successful, he never forgot his beginnings, or people who helped him along the way.
Joe made many friends with those who crossed his path with his charisma, classic sense of humor, and one of a kind smile. With his kind, gentle, and inviting soul, he truly made people an integral part of his life. He enjoyed being outdoors, playing golf often with friends, and loved to travel. The most important thing to Joe was his family. He was always the center of the family where anyone could come to him for his excellent advice, or just sit and talk about anything as he had a bright outlook on life. This world has truly lost one of its shining stars, and will be sorely missed.
Joe is survived by the love of his life for 38 years, his wife Nancy. He is also survived by his sons, Robert and Mark, daughters Sandra and Kelli, grandchildren Emily, Sophia, Kaley, Brendan and Teagan, and a large extended family. He is preceded in death by his son Joe Lopez III, granddaughter Sidney Lopez, father and mother Jose and Hermila Lopez, and brothers Jaime and Felipe Lopez.
Visitation will be from 4pm to 9pm on Thursday, January 7th, with a Rosary at 6pm and Funeral service immediately after at 7pm at Crestview Funeral Home at 1462 N. Zaragoza Rd.
The family would like to thank all of our friends and loved ones for their compassionate support and assistance.
