Jose Vasquez, age 76, of El Paso, Texas passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2025. At the early age of 19, he married the love of his life Alicia and became a stepfather to 5 young children whom he raised as his own. In later years they brought 3 more children into their life. He was a husband, father, and grandfather who taught his children and grandchildren about hard work, honesty, respect, family values, and love. Jose was a retired custodian that dedicated over 40 years of his life to the El Paso Independent School District. He consistently displayed strong work ethics and maintained positive relationships with his co-workers and colleagues.
He lost his beloved wife of over 35 years Alicia "Lichonda" as he used to call her. After her passing he always made sure to keep the house exactly as she had left it and always kept her memory alive.
He was a man of great integrity, a role model, a gentleman's gentleman and at times a little OCD. He liked his shoes well shined and his clothes were impeccably neat and ironed. Let us not forget the hair, always in the right place. He loved working on his cars and was a great carpenter as well. He enjoyed listening to oldies and cooking his favorite meals.
He is remembered for a wealth of experiences that cannot be fully captured in writing and will remain with his loved ones. He will be our “Gongo” forever!
He is preceded in death by his wife Alicia Vasquez, his daughter Yvonne Castillo, his brother Angel Torres, and his sister Gloria Dominguez and his grandson Dominic Vasquez. Mr. Vasquez is survived by his sons; Armando De La Rosa, Moises De La Rosa, Jose Vasquez Jr., Eduardo Vasquez and Efren Vasquez. His daughters; Veronica Granado and Nohemi Barron De La Rosa. His brother George Torres and his sisters; Guadalupe Villa, Rosalia Cruz, Margarita Hernandez and Bertha Torres.
