Josefina Hidalgo, age 93, entered into eternal rest on November 17, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family at her granddaughter DeAne’s home. She was born on October 2, 1932, to Ana and Agustín Hidalgo.
A devoted Catholic, Josefina lived her faith daily through the Rosary and her devotion to St. Jude and San Lorenzo. Her spirituality shaped her gentle spirit and the strength with which she faced every stage of life.
Josefina lived most of her life in El Paso, Texas, close to the family she cherished. She loved gathering with loved ones, playing cards, gardening, and enjoyed cooking—always creating a warm, welcoming home filled with comfort and laughter.
She carried a quiet resilience, shaped in part by the loss of her only daughter, Yolanda Cervantes, who preceded her in death in 1992 at the age of 39. Despite this profound heartbreak, Josefina remained steadfast, finding purpose and joy in caring for and supporting her grandchildren throughout her life.
Josefina is survived by her loving siblings Alicia Ramirez, Enrique Hidalgo, and Lorenzo Hidalgo; her grandchildren Dan Cervantes and wife Glenna Morgio, DeAne Cole and husband Joe Cole, and Alisse Grant and husband Jason Grant; her great-grandchildren Olivia Cole (17), Emme Cole (14), Lucca Amendola (17), Leighton Grant (4), and Lex Grant (2); several nieces and nephews; and extended family who loved her dearly. She is preceded in death by her parents; her daughter Yolanda; and siblings Estela Soto, Ramona Porras, Estela Syphers, and others who welcomed her home in God’s embrace.
Her memory will forever be a blessing to all who were fortunate to know her
