Hey Ken....Brother I'm late to say good-bye but I just now learned of your passing! You were/are still such an inspiration to me in so many ways. My first Junior Dev Gig was with you and Frank working on Ravaged. I came on to the team at the tail end but Brother...I learned so much from you! I'm at the tail end of releasing my own game on Steam and I owe you for so much. You're my hero! So sorry that you're gone. My condolences to all of your friends and family.

I loved working with Ken at NVIDIA. He was truly an anchor on the team. His intelligence and expertise made every encounter with him a positive experience.  His work shaped our successes, and his kind and endearing wit shaped our team's family. I am a better person for having known Ken and he will be greatly missed. I worked with Ken at Varay in the early 2000's. Man, what a cool guy. He always took everything in stride and was definitely the prankster of the group. There are so many great stories and memories. He made us all laugh so much. The work place was not the same after he left. Super smart and fun. I still remember his catch phrase that I still use, "Right On". My condolences and prayers to you, Tiffany, the kids and the rest of the family. I am sure he is still playing pranks and making others laugh. God bless you all.

I was fortunate enough to have been able to work with Ken at NVIDIA and he was one of the most laid back, helpful and friendly guys I know. He always made himself available to assist with any question or issue, and I felt I could always count on him for insights and guidance. I consider myself blessed and lucky to have been his colleague and send my deepest condolences to his entire family and friends.

Ken jumped onto a critical effort at NVIDIA last summer with a tight deadline. Despite being relatively new to the space, he onboarded quickly, and his contributions got us over the finish line. I wish we had more time together as colleagues, but I'm grateful for the duration we shared.

I met Ken on a game we were making back many years ago.  He was there at the start of my career.  At first glimpse, one could immediately see his warmth and kindness not to mention his ability and passion for game development.  Easy to laugh, quick to joke but with a depth that appeared bottomless.  Many years later we worked closely again at NVIDIA.  Amazing colleague and a better friend.  Ill miss ya pal.

I began knowing Ken while working on a game.  Got to know him as many do these days, over the internet.  Always cheerful, always basking in self made humor, he was both an anomaly and a friend i will never forget.  Meeting him in person for the first time recently he was, as ever, the same kind hearted caring person i had met virtually years prior.  Easy to laugh but with a depth hard to see the bottom of.  Ill miss you pal.

My name is Megan Crowley and I became a member of Ken's team at NVIDIA in Nov. 2023. 

In the short term I had the pleasure of working with Ken, I learned he was a patient, intelligent, funny, and kind-hearted person. He greeted me at our morning coffee in the morning with "Hey Meganator." Ken was always willing to help me learn and would walk me through tasks for our team. He shared stories about his family (and how dearly he loved them), pictures of his cats, and the world's best puns that had me hollering with laughter. 

I will truly miss Ken, especially the way that he brought laughter and patience to our team's work. To Ken's family, I am so incredibly sorry for your loss. He was an amazing person.

Hello, my name is Roman and I worked with Ken at NVIDIA. We started at the same time and helped each other get onboarded. Ken was a pleasure to work with and made work fun. Whether it was an avalanche of cat pictures, guitar riffs or puntastic humor...Ken always delivered.

I'll miss working with him and I wish to send the family my condolences. 

Let's keep Ken in our hearts and minds. When you feel sad just remember that Ken always said "I'll chair my screen" instead of "I'll share my screen".

I first met Kiff in the early 90's: He, Bret Johnson, & I made up the core of two rock bands. The first was an all original band called Sweet Alum with Yves De La Casa (we wrote all our own songs, but Yves was the chief architect of the music), and the second was a cover band called White Heat (with Joel Updegraf and Pat Tucker) because we all had bills to pay. 

I always admired Kiff for his "cool under fire" demeanor and gentle spirit. It was great visiting him last January 2022 while traveling to Arizona pick up my brother Aaron. He shared a good deal about his life and relationships, as well as some of his struggles. He took us out to eat at one of his favorite "hole in the wall" Mexican restaurants and the meal was absolutely fantastic. But what I enjoyed most was just spending time with an old friend. 

Losing him so suddenly has crushed my soul ~ I am in anguish writing this with many tears. I lost more than a friend, I lost a brother. To say he will be missed is an understatement ~ he left an enormous hole in the world he left behind and the hearts of so many who knew him.

I worked with Ken at NVIDIA and he was one of the kindest, friendliest, and helpful people.  I will remember and cherish all of the discussions we had, and he will have a place in my heart and mind forever.

My love and condolences go out to his family and friends.  Rest in peace my friend.

Just got to know Kiff the past couple of years jamming with him in the band Frank and The Underdogs. In those few years got to see that not only was he a great guitar player, he was also a great soul. Rest In Peace buddy, I know you are Rocking in Heaven with the BEST!!!!

From myself and my family our deepest condolences to the Payne family. Kiff as I knew him from back in our early game development days was a great guy with an amazing sense of humor and a love for gaming and programming. He would spend countless hours on team speak with the team going over his new ideas and how he got things to work in an engine that fought against us the whole way. Ken made it yield to his ideas and creativity. From the Bunnell family and from a legion of Battlefield 2 players and the Desert Conflict Mod team thank you Ken for everything. You found your way into the gaming world through your work there and I'm happy I/we were apart of that.
