Born and raised in El Paso, Texas, Louann attended Dudley Elementary School, Radford School for Girls, and Hollins College, where she earned a Bachelor of Science with a major in Mathematics and a minor in Physics. In 1947, Louann was selected and served as the El Paso Sun Carnival Association’s Sun Queen, serving as an ambassador for the City of El Paso. Then, after graduating from college, Louann was soon engaged to and married the love of her life, Richard H. Feuille in 1948. Louann and Rickie shared 65 years of their love together until Rickie’s death in 2013. Louann bore seven children and became very involved in serving the community through numerous organizations.
In 1972, at the age of 45, she was admitted to the College of Nursing at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) and graduated in 1974 as a BSN. She then became a Registered Nurse and worked for many years as a Pediatric Nurse at Providence Memorial Hospital. Louann then worked as a school nurse at Vilas, Douglass and Lamar Elementary Schools for a number of years, during which she would regularly purchase and supply the students and their families with needed clothing, food, medications, medical supplies and prescription glasses and handicap aids.
Louann was a lifelong member of the Church of St. Clement, where she served on the Altar Guild, the Women’s Bible Study, hosted and led Extended Family and Cell Groups, helped to organize Prayer and Praise services, Faith Alive outreaches, Summer Harvest convocations and Prayer Teams, participated in hospital visits, acted as an unofficial greeter, helped organize Meals on Wheels and enchilada suppers, hosted youth group meetings, and supported a number of missionaries. Louann was active in Young Life, worked with Father Richard Thomas in his outreaches to the poor in Juarez and El Paso, assisted David and Mary Pytches and Richard and Prudence Bedwell with Gifts of the Holy Spirit seminars in Great Britain and all over the United States, supported orphanages in Juarez, and served many other religious organizations.
Louann was active in the El Paso Symphony Guild, the Junior League of El Paso for which she served as President, the El Paso Historical Society, the National Society of Colonial Dames, the Young Women’s Christian Association for which she served as President, the Pan American Roundtable, the El Paso Visiting Nurses Association, worked to establish the El Paso Community Foundation, and faithfully served and supported many civic and charitable organizations in El Paso and throughout the nation. Her contributions to the El Paso community are so numerous that it is not possible to recount them.
She was a loving, devoted wife to Rickie, a tender, loving, compassionate mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, and constant in prayer and in service, and she remains a faithful servant of the Lord Jesus Christ.
