
Born in El Paso, Texas January 29, 1944 to Francisco Alfredo Rocha, and Amparo Garcia Rocha. Luis played football, and graduated from El Paso High School, his beloved Tigers. He went on to study at Texas Western College, now the University of Texas at El Paso. An ROTC graduate, he studied Civil Engineering and received his Bachelor’s Degree in History.
He was commissioned into the United States Army in 1969. Captain Rocha's military service included tours of duty with the Air Defense 11th Battalion in Germany and South Korea. Following his military service, Luis made Dallas, Texas his home. Throughout his professional career, he worked for many companies but was most recently President of his own company, American Genetics International. He traveled all over the world and set foot on every continent with business in Vietnam, Brazil, New Zealand, Mexico, and many more…Luis is survived by his wife: Katherine McCool Rocha, his children; Marissa Rocha Alonzo, and Luis Alfredo Rocha II, adopted daughter; Amber Landis Reedy, his grandchildren: Larissa Rocha Duarte, and Karissa Rocha Atamas, Rosetta "Angel" Burton, Jared Alonzo, and Logan Alonzo; his sisters: Estela Rocha Salinas, Juanita “Jenny” Holguin, Lydia "Lily" Lawrence, Sylvia Holguin, his wife’s family members in Kansas, and many beloved Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces, Nephews. Preceding him in death are his parents: Francisco Alfredo Rocha, Amparo Garcia Holguin, and Stepfather Amador Fernandez Holguin. Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 from 5-9pm at Hillcrest-Carolina with a vigil at 7pm. Funeral Mass will be on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at 12:30pm at St. Joseph Parish, 1315 Travis Street. Interment to follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery ETA 2pm. Services are under the direction of Hillcrest Funeral Home, 1060 N. Carolina, 915-598-3332.
