Maria L. Muñoz affectionately known as “Luli” was born on April 21, 1930 in Vinton, TX to the late Santiago and Guadalupe Muñoz or as Luli called them “papa y mama”. Her brothers, sisters, many nieces and nephews were by her side as she drifted off to be with the Lord on March 14, 2017.
Undoubtedly, Luli was the matriarch of the Muñoz family. She was loved and adored by everyone. One couldn’t resist but to adore her as she devotedly treasured every member of her family. She had nicknamed many of them (Police, Ginito, Gingo, Goy, Blanquito, Chechito). She even nicknamed herself Mary Lou!” Luli was best known for her passion to house cleaning. Papa y mama’s house was immaculate; every inch was spotless and polished. Luli selflessly helped mama prepare cone-shaped burritos or provide frozen popsicles to many of her nieces and nephews when they stopped for a quick visit after school. She would get up at the break of dawn to do house chores and more importantly, care for papa y mama prior to their passing.
Luli is survived by two brothers, Alberto and Andres; four sisters, Josefina Cerecerez (+Pete), Ana Leos (+Santos), Ramona Calderon (+Victor), Maria Elena Rhoer (+Rip); and many nieces and nephews.
Luli was preceded in death by her parents, Santiago and Guadalupe Muñoz, her brothers Jesus (+Cipriana), Antonio (+Cecilia), Manuel (+Rosa), Santiago (+Genoveva), Gabriel (Maria), infant angels Gabriel and Fina, and most recently her fondest brother, Jose, better known as Che.
The family would like to express a special thanks to Maria Elena (Lena) Rhoer. We can never thank you enough for the love and care of Luli during her final days.
