

Manuel “Manny” Carmona, 82, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2025, after a courageous battle with a lengthy illness. Manny was born on September 21, 1943, in Smelter Town, Texas. He was the only son among five children, with four sisters, born to Anastacio and Josefina Z. Carmona.
He is survived by his daughters, Diana “Didi” Carmona and Monica Carmona; his granddaughter, Krysta Maese; and his sister, Mary Carmona Carrillo. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
Manny was preceded in death by his wife, Maria Luisa (Licha) Carmona, and his sisters Epifania “Pefy” C. Garrett, Romana “Romy” C. Bailey, and Josefina C. Wymetalek.
Manny was a proud graduate of El Paso Technical High School, Class of '63 where he played football. He enjoyed attending high school reunions, and loved listening to classic oldies, especially Sonny Ozuna and Etta James.
Manny honorably served in the United States Navy from 1963 to 1967. He remained deeply proud of his services to his country and the involvement of the Vietnam War.
He worked at Phelps Dodge (Freeport-McMoRan Copper and Gold) from February 1973 to February 2009, where he retired.

Manny will be remembered for his devotion to family, his faith, and the many lives he touched.
