Manuel Ponce Jr. of Anthony, NM entered eternal rest on January 4, 2023. He was born in San Francisco del Oro, Chihuahua, Mexico on December 1, 1948, to Manuel and Maria Ponce. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, and later continued serving in the Reserves.
He is preceded in death by his parents Manuel and Maria Ponce and brother Mario Ponce. Manuel shared 45 years of marriage with the love of his life Sherilyn Jean Ponce. In addition to his wife, Manuel is survived by his sons Manuel Ponce III, wife Michelle Ponce and Matthew Ponce, wife Janilee Ponce of Ft. Worth, TX. Grandchildren Manuel Ponce, Audrina Ponce, Matthew Ponce, Presley Ponce, and baby Ponce on the way. Sisters Bea Huml and Rachel Cervantes and brother Sergio Ponce and many nieces and nephews.
Manuel is remembered for his spontaneous, selfless, and social demeanor. He had a passion for restoring old cars and was an avid wheeler and dealer. Manuel enjoyed food, dancing, and music; he was a professional with many air instruments.
He will be remembered by many close friends in the community whom he cherished time with around the fire and in the shop, exchanging stories, working on cars and lots of laughter.
After 30 successful years with the Social Security Administration, he enjoyed his retirement with many trips with his wife, close friends, and family. He was entertained by watching his grandchildren grow and often immersed himself in play.
His mischievous personality will live on with all the memories we are left to cherish. He leaves us with many laughs, stories, and will always remain in our hearts.
A visitation will occur Wednesday, January 11th from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with the rosary at 6PM at Hillcrest Funeral Home - West, 5054 Doniphan Dr, El Paso, TX 79932. A funeral mass will occur Thursday, January 12, 2023, at 11:00 AM at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 400 W. Sunset, El Paso, Texas 79922.
