Margaret Janice Pedersen, a remarkable and loving woman, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 2nd, at the age of 84. Margaret’s journey was one of accomplishments and love. At the young age of 16, she graduated high school and continued her education at Texas Western (now UTEP). There, she shone brightly as a cheerleader, a proud member of the Chi Omega Sorority, and an ambitious student, earning both her B.A. in Teaching and her M.A. in Library Sciences. Adding to her vibrant college years, Margaret was crowned El Paso’s 1960 Dairy Queen. During her time at Texas Western, Margaret found her soulmate in Patrick Warren Pedersen. Together, they built a life full of love, raising three incredible children: Patricia, Paula, and Michael. Margaret’s professional journey was just as impactful—she dedicated over 30 years to teaching English and History in the Ysleta School District. After retiring in 1999, she continued sharing her love for knowledge as a part-time librarian at the Radford School. Margaret is reunited in peace with her beloved husband, Patrick Warren Pedersen; her parents, William Pressly and Mary Elizabeth Willis; and her daughter, Patricia Lynn Pedersen. She leaves behind her loving children, Paula Jane Pedersen and Michael William Pedersen; her sister, Madeline Harrell; her cherished grandchildren, JaeLynn Weisel, Patrick, Jeremy, and Joesaph Pedersen; and her great-grandchildren, Ripley Richardson, Eden Pedersen, and Louis Pedersen. Margaret’s love and wisdom touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She will forever be remembered and deeply missed.
