Maria Elena Cabrera

Maria Elena Cabrera, born on January 31, 1938, in Chihuahua, Mexico, entered eternal rest on June 15, 2025, at the age of 87. She was the youngest of nine children born to Rito and Justina Rodriguez, and was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 33 years, Jesus Cabrera, as well as all her siblings.

Maria Elena leaves behind a proud and loving legacy through her five children and twelve grandchildren, who will continue to honor her memory, and the strength and devotion she embodied throughout her life.

Guided by her Catholic faith, Maria Elena faced life’s joys and trials with grace and resilience. She retired as a widow, triumphed over breast cancer, and bore the long journey of Alzheimer’s with quiet strength and trust in God’s care.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2025, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home East. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 27, 2025, at Santo Niño Catholic Church, followed by interment at Mount Carmel Cemetery.

Her family is grateful for the prayers and expressions of sympathy during this time and invites all who knew her to join in celebrating a life of faith, love, and service. May she rest in the peace of Christ.
