As a young woman she began working at Southwestern hospital then at Bordens dairy. She married her childhood neighbor and love of her life Alfredo Cano in 1948. Eventually Mary became a caregiver to many family members. She was a wonderful cook who always had her kitchen open to those who came by. Mary was such a rock for the family and her home was a common meeting place. Mary has touched so many lives and will truly be missed by everyone.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Freddy and her parents.
She is survived by her daughter Irma C Peterson, and son Carlos Victor Cano, granddaughter Amanda Profit, son in-law Joseph Profit, great grandchildren Vincent and Eric Profit and sister Velia Armendariz.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 21, 2018 from 5pm-9pm at Hillcrest Funeral Home, 1060 North Carolina Drive, with a rosary at 7pm. Funeral Mass will be Saturday, December 22 at 10:30am at St. Mark Catholic Church, 11700 Pebble Hills Drive. Services entrusted to Hillcrest Funeral Home. (915) 598-3332
