Born on July 15, 1945, Maria was the first-born daughter of Jesus Fonseca and Maria Villalobos. Her life was a reflection of deep love, unwavering faith, and boundless generosity. Those who knew her will remember her for her feisty spirit, fierce strength, and the care she shared so freely with family and friends. She was affectionately known as “Chuya” to those who knew her best.
Maria is survived by her beloved daughters, Melissa F. Ramirez (Richard) and Susan C. Fonseca; her adored granddaughters, Samantha M. Ramirez and Isabella N. Ramirez; her sister, Josephine Berberian; and her brothers, Celso Fonseca (Irma), Jesus Fonseca, Armando Fonseca (Letty), Arturo Fonseca (Rosa), and JV Fonseca. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who brought her great joy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesus Fonseca and Maria Villalobos; her brothers, Roberto Fonseca and Ernesto Fonseca; and her nephews, Arthur Lee Fonseca and Cameron Lawson.
A lifelong nurturer, Maria found joy in simple pleasures. She loved to shop and bake, always filling her home with the comforting warmth of her homemade treats. She also gave selflessly to her community as a Girl Scout leader, inspiring countless young girls with her kindness, patience, and guidance. She devoted her life to caring for her daughter, Susie, and will be dearly missed.
Maria’s legacy lives on through the love she gave, the lessons she shared, and the many lives she touched.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 17, 2025 from 4:00pm to 8:00 pm with a vigil service at 6:00 pm at Crestview Funeral Home, located at 1462 North Zaragoza Rd., El Paso, Texas, 79936. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, December 18, 2025, at 10:00 am at Saint Mark Catholic Church, located at 11700 Pebble Hills Blvd, El Paso, Texas, 79936. Interment will follow at Evergreen East Cemetery, located at 12400 East Montana, El Paso, Texas, 79938 at 11:30 am.
Pallbearers will include Celso Fonseca, Armando Fonseca, Arturo Fonseca, JV Fonseca, Adrian Fonseca, Andrew Fonseca, Anthony Fonseca, Jonathan Fonseca, Michael Fonseca, and David Bustamante.
