Maria was born in Valparaiso, Zacatecas, Mexico, on June 11, 1932, to Benito Huizar and Dolores Ortiz. She was the 3rd oldest of six children in her family. In her early years of marriage, she migrated to Santo Tomas, New Mexico, to a location called Stahmann Farms in the ranch of Esperanza, where her children were raised and grew up. There at Stahmann she worked in the Pecan Factory for several years where she met several good friends. She considered all the people of Stahmann Farm's to be family. She enjoyed going to the Stahmann Farm's reunions very much. Around 1974, she and the whole family moved to El Paso, Texas, where she worked as a seamstress for the Levi-Strauss Corporation. Her work at Levis-Strauss was cut short by the unfortunate accident of her son, Eliseo Jara, during his military term. Maria then dedicated 31 years of her life caring for her son, until his passing.
Maria was a great woman of faith, always believing that nothing was impossible through her Lord Jesus Christ who strengthened her. Instilling in her children's upbringing the moral values of respect and dignity for all, giving them the love and discipline in a balanced way, and always encouraging them to pursue their dreams, and most of all, she set a great example of her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, in whom she wanted her children and their offspring to follow all the days of their life.
Maria was an amazing woman, mother, wife, and sister, who left mountains of beautiful memories. Our Heavenly Father gifted her with beautiful attributes, she was very loving, giving, compassionate, generous, forgiving, kind, and always grateful for every single thing that was done for her, big or small. She expressed her goodness physically, verbally, and spiritually. She left a legacy that all of us would want to follow. She was loved by all, family, friends and even strangers. She will always live in our hearts. We will miss her tremendously here on this earth until the day we reunite with her in heaven.
