Maria Luisa (Mary Lou) H Enriquez born March 1st 1967 & Died July 3rd, 2025 was daughter of Maria R and Louis A Hernandez and a bright and beautiful light. She was 1 of 7 sibling’s and the youngest of her family growing up. Maybe because of her age gap, or maybe because of her curious nature, she was an avid learner who valued academics since she was young. She attended Hillside Elementary, Ross Middle School, and Burges High school leading to her earning a Bachelors Degree in Communications from the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). Throughout her academic journey she dedicated much time to media and journalism in the forms of radio creativity, graphic design, and writing through her student activities, employment opportunities, and other work. Along the way also meeting her spouse Albert Ochoa Enriquez in the UTEP Education Building. The two had a long and beautiful relationship leading to marriage on September 13th 1996. Mary Lou birthed daughter and only child Sarah Giselle Enriquez August 11th, 2001 and continued to live 23 years together as the Enriquez family with Albert and Sarah. She wore many hats as a daughter, wife, mom, tia, godmother, and friend.
In true perpetual learner and Mary Lou fashion, she continued to peruse her education gaining admission to UTEP’s Occupational Therapy Program while working as a full time radio and tv saleswoman. Although as a caring mother usually does, she made the sacrifice to put her family over her education and continued to be a kind, creative, caring, wife and mom instead. Her work life lead her to continue working in media advertising as a sales representative, station general manager, advertising agency project manager, etc. until 2020. From there she tried out other endeavors outside of media as she found herself providing more effort to her family than work. Mary Lou was a known bubbly person who valued tranquility and positivity. For these reasons she spent the rest of her life in environments exuding those qualities as they kept her in good spirits. She loved to dance, smile, and laugh with anyone she could, whenever and wherever. Her memory is carried on through all family and friends she touched even if it was just through one singular conversation. As a peaceful woman who valued kindness and happiness, she will always be remembered as a light in many people’s lives. May her soul rest in a kingdom of eternal peace and love, and may the memory of her happy self carry on through all.
A visitation for Maria Luisa will be held Wednesday, July 30, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hillcrest Funeral Home, 1060 North Carolina Drive, El Paso, TX 79915, followed by a chapel service at 6:00 PM.
