
was born in Williamstown, NJ on August 16, 1930 to Vernon and Nellie Hoffman. She was
married to Benjamin Lewis Narbuth of Carnegie, Pennsylvania on February 25, 1956. Survivors
include four children: Son, Edward, daughter Carol Neely (Tom, deceased), daughter Nancy
Swanson (William) and daughter Barbara Stevens (Mark), two granddaughters Jessica Miranda
(Luis and their son Zach), and Jennifer Swanson. Brother Robert Hoffman (Elizabeth), sister
Esther L’Esperance (Frank, deceased) and several nieces and nephews. She attended nursing
school in Philadelphia. Following graduation, she worked at Cooper General Hospital in
Camden, NJ. Following marriage, she and her husband lived in Japan, where her husband
served in a military hospital. While there, she taught English to Japanese physicians, served as a
Red Cross volunteer and as a school volunteer. She taught Sunday School prior to marriage and
also at several military posts during her husband’s military career. She served for many years as
a classroom volunteer at Horizon Heights Elementary School. She served both on the Ft Bliss
Main Chapel Altar Guild and Fellowship Committee. Marian will be remembered as a devoted
Christian wife and mother. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to El Paso Pregnancy and
