Born on August 13, 1947, to Jose and Elia Garcia, Marta spent her entire life in El Paso — a city she loved and called home. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School and attended UTEP, always valuing education and hard work. Marta built a long and meaningful career at the Texas Workforce Commission, helping countless people find their path. In the 1970s, she also shared her energy and passion through her involvement with the Restaurant Association.
Marta was the heart of her family. She is preceded in death by her loving parents, Jose and Elia, and leaves behind a family that adored her: her son Joseph Terrazas and daughter-in-law Liz, her grandson Anthony, her daughter Demi Terrazas and son-in-law Marcos Carmona, and her granddaughters Cassandra and Amanda Carmona.
Marta was a strong, smart, and fiercely loving woman. She had a way of making everyone around her feel safe and cared for. No matter what was happening in her own life, if someone needed her, she showed up — without question, without hesitation. Her kindness was not just something she spoke about; it was something she lived every single day.
She leaves behind not just memories, but a lasting example of what it means to love unselfishly and live with strength. Her laughter, advice, and endless generosity will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
