Martin Joseph Schafer Senior served in the US Navy during World War II. He was happily married to Anna E Gilbert for sixty-nine years before her passing in December of 2017. They had two children Martin Joseph Jr and Margaret. Martin leaves behind five grandchildren, great grandchildren and their respective families. Daughter in-law Linda Schafer, Jason Zimmerman and Family, Michelle Beerbower and Family, Martin Schafer III and Family, Billy Schafer and Family and Charlotte Jaramillo and Family. Martin was an exemplary mechanic who always took pride in doing things the right way. His favorite hobbies included fishing, hunting, gardening. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Martin was always patient, loving and ready to tell a funny joke. He had a way of making you feel loved, valued, and there not be a day that he will not be missed.
Funeral Service will be held Friday, December 2, 2022 starting at 9 a.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church. Martin will be laid to rest alongside his wife at 11 a.m., following funeral service, at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Until we meet again, may you rest in peace, love you dearly always, your family.
