Maryellen Lawless quietly went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 6 , 2012. She was born May 7, 1921 in Ft. Worth, Texas. She learned her love for the desert when she moved with her family to Buckeye, Ariz. A striking young Army Air Corp cadet, James Raymond Lawless (Ray), from Luke Field, Arizona, caught her eye and they were married in 1942. Ray was the love of her life. Ray and Maryellen returned to El Paso in 1945. Maryellen was a housewife and prided herself on her home and many, many hours of volunteer work. She volunteered for over 50 years at the Providence Hospital and then the Assistance League of El Paso. She and Ray were long time members of the First Presbyterian Church. She is preceded in death by her husband Ray Lawless and son, Jeff Lawless. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Janet Lee and Jon Mckinley, her grandchildren, Raelene Dorame, Kimberly Lawless, and Jason Lawless and her great grandchildren, Dana and Dallas Petersen. A very special thanks goes to the wonderful staff and caregivers of Serenity House for their loving and professional care. In lieu of flowers, please send any donations to the Assistance League of El Paso at P O box 3735, El Paso, Texas 79923. Services will be held Friday, Feb. 10, at 10 a.m. at Restlawn Memorial Park, 8700 Dyer, El Paso, Tx.
