Mattie Lazelle Ward "to teach is to touch a life forever"

Mattie Lazelle Ward was born September 27th, 1929 to Modicue Franklin and Hazel White in Dallas, Texas. She passed September 8th, 2018 in El Paso, Texas. She is survived by her husband; Hoyt L. Ward, Sr., five children; Rueben Daniels, Reginald Daniels, Hoyt L. Ward II (Caroline), Sonja R. Coleman (Joe), Zandra W. Ward; four grandchildren, Temisha Daniels, Maurice Ward, Adonis Coleman, Shari Ward; great-granddaughter, Madison Brown. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. Mattie joined Delta Sigma Theta sorority in 1952. She was a member of 9th and 10th (Horse) Cav. (Buffalo Soldiers). She was a school teacher for 42 years. Her hobbies were playing bridge, golf, traveling, and dancing. Visitation: September 16th, 2018, 6-9 pm at Hillcrest Funeral Home. Service at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 7000 Edgemere, at 11am on September 17th, 2018. Interment to follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
