

Mike was born on July 3, 1948. He graduated from Jefferson high school in 1966 in the top ten percent of his class. Afterwards, he attended Texas Western College (UTEP) to study electrical engineering. In 1967, Mike enlisted in the U.S. Marines. He was a field radio operator assigned to the 1ST ANGLICO unit, 5th Marines, Delta Co. 1968-1969.
Following his service to his country, Mike joined the El Paso Police Department in 1971. During his 26 years of service, one of his greatest honors was being selected as Policeman of the Year. He retired in 1998.
Mike was a diehard NY Yankees fan. He also was an avid sportsman and was a member of the Ft. Bliss Rod and Gun club.
He is survived by his sister, Francisca C. Villalobos, brother, Joe “Catcher” Castillo (Gloria) and several nieces and nephews.

I am deeply grateful to Mike’s dear friends, Hector and Bonnie Ortega, Chief Long and Mrs. Long for their support and encouragement during this difficult time. Lastly, to his wonderful caring neighbors, Mike and Bertha Vega. Your help has been invaluable to Mike especially these last few years. Thank you for always being there for our family.
Visitation for Mike will be held on Monday, September 22nd, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM followed by a celebration of life service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Burial will be on Wednesday, the 24th, 10:00 AM at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery 5200 Fred Wilson Ave, El Paso, TX 79906
